Katie is a dedicated litigator with a deep commitment to Constitutional Law, especially First Amendment rights. She actively championed free speech on her college campus by building a coalition to host a free speech panel, working with top administrators and FIRE staff to advocate for speech code reform, and collaborating with The Spectrum student newspaper to support student representation in campus judicial proceedings taking second place in FIRE’s national Speak Truth To Power campaign in 2017.
Katie, licensed to practice law in New York, joined Binnall Law Group after gaining practical courtroom experience with Neighborhood Legal Services and a federal judicial internship at the United States District Court for the Western District of New York.
Katie is a graduate of the University of Akron School of Law, where she was the treasurer of the law school’s national mock trial team, the vice-president of the Student Bar Association, and a student member of the academic and discipline committee. She earned a Best Advocate and Best Witness award at the Ohio Attorney General’s Public Service Mock Trial Competition in 2022 and was a semifinalist at the American Association for Justice Student Trial Advocacy Competition Regionals in 2023.
Prior to Katie’s legal career, she grew up in Buffalo, New York, and attended the State University of New York at Buffalo where she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Psychology.
