Heather Flick provides full-service solutions through a wide range of legal and corporate board advisory services for revenue companies, start-ups, investors, inventors, franchisees, non-profits, and high net worth individuals. As a founder, investor, and inventor, herself (she holds U.S. Patents No. 8,631,800 and 10,137,030), Heather brings a uniquely comprehensive perspective to Binnall Law Group and our client needs.

Heather’s practice includes contract negotiation, employment law, intellectual property protection, regulatory compliance, ethics and crisis management, dispute resolution, and general business advice.  

Prior to joining Binnall Law Group, Heather served as Acting General Counsel, Acting Assistant Secretary for Administration, and Senior Adviser to the Secretary at the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) in Washington, D.C — the $2.1 trillion cabinet agency comprised of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA); Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS); NIH; CDC; IHS, the U.S. Public Health Service, and federal assistance, among others. As HHS’s most senior attorney, she advised the Secretary on regulations and litigation and liaised with Inspector General and Congress. As Assistant Secretary for Administration, she led HHS in civil service reform, reinstating accountability procedures and reopening collective bargaining with unions. Prior to government service, she pioneered Strategic Business Counsel™ at her own firm and was Of Counsel to the Dhillon Law Group in San Francisco. 

For over 20 years, Heather has provided business clients comprehensive strategic legal advice, counseling clients on all aspects of business structure, employment, IP protection, contracts, compliance, corporate transactions, and dispute resolution. Heather has licensed countless products and international brands — increasing market share while mitigating risk. 

Known as a lawyer’s lawyer, Heather has also represented several prominent California attorneys in their own transactions and business disputes. She has also advised political committees and conducted recounts in California, Nevada, Minnesota, Massachusetts, Hawaii, and Florida. 

Heather has lived in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Chicago, and Washington D.C.; written for TraderDaily, Dealmaker, and The New York Observer; has been quoted by the New York Times and Financial Times.

In her spare time, Heather enjoys sailing and has competed in various races including the Transpacific Yacht Race, The Rolex Fastnet Race, The Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac, and the Newport Bermuda and Rolex Maxi World Championship sailing races.
